Artist Workshop: Cally

Join us at Bowhouse on 22nd August at 10:00 am for our beginners seaweed paper-making workshop, led by Cally, and continue into the afternoon with Angela Chalmer’s workshop at 2:00 pm, where she will guide participants in creating cyanotypes using seaweed paper. Places are limited to 10-12 participants per activity, and children aged 8 and over can take part with parental supervision.

After a career in journalism, public relations and fundraising, Cally took on a new challenge in 2018, doing something she'd always loved as a child, making things. She went on to complete a Master's Degree in Fine Art & Humanities at Duncan of Jordanstone Art College, Dundee University, with Distinction in 2021. Her main material is washed up seaweed, which she lets speak with its own voice, combined with other waste materials to explore the interdependency between human and non-human life. She was shortlisted for a John Byrne Award in 2023, with her work described as intertwining the natural and industrial in a new and arresting way.
